THE new City Link coach rumbled along the Harare-Bulawayo highway, traversing the vast African landscape. Outside, the patchwork of green fields stretched as far as the eye could see. Inside, passengers were engaged in a different kind of journey, one powered by the digital age.
Recently, City Link Coaches made a ground-breaking move in Zimbabwe’s transportation industry. The company introduced two new coaches equipped with a revolutionary feature: free Wi-Fi. This is a significant development in a country where internet access can be limited, especially outside major cities and while on the road.
For students like Tendai, the wifi is a lifesaver. She can continue her studies, research topics, or simply catch up on her favourite shows.
“It’s like having a classroom on wheels,” she said with a smile.
Business travellers found the wifi invaluable for staying connected to the office. One can check emails, attend virtual meetings, and even close deals while on the move.
“It’s a game-changer for travelling professionals,” explained another passenger.
Nobuhle Gwemende, City Link Zimbabwe Operations Manager, said passengers are thrilled at the prospect of staying connected during their long journey.
“It makes the journey so much more enjoyable. With the digital age, no one has to miss out on their daily routines. One can be in their offices virtually while on board. Students can study while on their way to their next destination. Passengers are happy about the new feature and staying connected to the world,” she said.
The introduction of wifi has not only improved the passenger experience but has also boosted the bus company’s reputation. It is a testament to their commitment to providing modern, comfortable, and convenient transportation.
Turning to the new state-of-the-art fleet introduced two months back, Gwemende said they are designed to elevate passenger comfort and convenience.
“They are packed with the latest features to make your journey a breeze. Our goal is to elevate passenger comfort and convenience; a trip with City Link should be refreshing and memorable.
“The new coaches reflect City Link’s commitment to providing modern, reliable, and safe transportation options,” she said.
These cutting-edge vehicles boast a range of amenities and technology to ensure a seamless and enjoyable travel experience.
Passengers can expect plush seating with ample legroom, an on-board entertainment system, USB charging ports, air conditioning, increased luggage storage, and recently added free wifi.
Meanwhile, City Link has introduced a 10:00 am bus which is only available from Thursday to Monday. On top of that, passengers on the new coaches will enjoy a complimentary meal from either Steers or Chicken Inn, a drink, and water.
