While many around the country marked Father’s Day on Sunday with celebration and reflection, popular stand-up comedian, actor and radio presenter Q Dube-Siziba and his sister, fast-rising musician Bhekiwe, were instead confronting a personal loss, burying their father on the very same day.
Q Dube shared the painful reality with his followers on social media, posting a heartfelt message that captured the emotional weight of the occasion.
“Burying you on Father’s Day has done something to me. Happy Father’s Day my Hero,” he wrote on Facebook.
Their dad, Elphacy Dube, died in Bulawayo in the early hours of Thursday 18 June 2026.

In a family statement, the Dube family described Elphacy as a man defined by service, warmth and deep devotion to his loved ones.
“It is with profound sadness that the Mathaba Dube family announces the passing of their beloved son and brother, Mr Elphacy Dube. A life shaped by diligent service, warmth, and abounding love for his family, we are deeply blessed to have had our father, grandfather, brother, and uncle with us for 72 years,” the statement read.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs Busisiwe Dube (maDlodlo), and his four children, Dumisani, Nqobizitha (Q Dube), Langelihle and Bhekiwe, as well as his daughter-in-law Danisha, and four grandchildren, Olivia, Alayna, Austin and Noah.
“Until the blessed resurrection, lala ngokuthula. eMathaba, eSiziba, eThobela, eMbedzi for all your love and teachings. We love you,” the family added.
News of his death has triggered an outpouring of condolences for the artistes with fans, colleagues and members of the arts community offering messages of comfort and support.
