A REAL HONOUR: TINA. . . Zim songbird recounts singing for Real Madrid star

ZIMBABWEAN songbird, Tina Masawi, is still relishing her once-in-a-lifetime experience in Spain recently.

She was handed an opportunity to sing at Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal’s wedding reception.

Carvajal tied the knot with Daphne Cañizares last Friday in Segovia, Spain.

While the attention was on the football star, and the A-List celebrity guests, Tina flew the country’s flag high as she wowed guests with her beautiful voice.

However, this was not the first time she was invited to perform at a top footballer’s wedding though.

Last year, she was invited to another wedding of an FC Barcelona player but could not attend because of another commitment.

Speaking to H-Metro, she said she was very delighted to have been invited to perform at this wedding.

“It feels very great to have been invited. It was a great honour,” she said.

Tina said her social media presence played a part in her being granted this golden opportunity.

“The wedding planner for Dani and Daphne is the one that got in touch with me on their behalf.

“This was after she saw some of my work on social media,” Masawi told H-Metro.

She said she was grateful for those that support her back home and in Europe.

“I do think I have a following back home and I appreciate it.

“My music is performing way better in Europe and I am very happy,” she said.

The wedding was graced by Carvajal’s teammates, who included Lucas Vasquez, Marco Asensio and Federico Valverde, among others.

Tina, who got a rare opportunity to shine last Friday, had the opportunity to perform one of her English classics.

She is based in Barcelona and she sings different genres which include house, Afrobeats, pop as well as RnB.

Tina is one of Zimbabwe’s exports shining overseas while she is largely overlooked back home.
