The Victory Group Harare Christian Soccer League match day 14 took place at the weekend around Harare.
JCC retained top spot after a convincing 4-0 win over UPRM at Greendale Sports Club.
ZAOGA also grabbed its second consecutive win for the first time with a 3-1 away win over AFM & SOD in a match played at UZ.
The match between second-placed NLCC and HCC was postponed over unfavourable pitch conditions.
JCC head coach, Never Muparutsa expressed satisfaction with the result.
“The win feels good. We are trying to keep the boys on course and try aim for the championship. The boys are raring to go and we are in good spirit. We are hoping that we keep winning putting the pressure to those behind us.
“As far as we are concerned we are happy both the players and the coaching department. We are playing according to our plan and vision. We displayed very good football and I would want to appreciate all other teams that are giving us good competition in the league. We also wish them the best.”
The UPRM manager, Tendayi Tandi said they are not reading much into the defeat.
“We take every game as it comes. Since we are building we might have to knock off a few bricks hence losing some points but the structure will be stronger and bigger at the end.
“We had a great game even though we lost, most of our first team players have crossed over the Limpopo and some are currently trying out for division 1 clubs like Karoi United.
“We held our own until half time only to crumble due to some injury inspired substitutions. Playing the log leaders was never going to be a stroll in the park.”
“They were not as good as we expected and being my favourites to win the league they have to pull up their sock a bit to win it. About us we just have to build for next season by winning all our last 5 games.”
