LONDON. — Jay-Z brought the Hollywood swagger to Wembley on Saturday in the highlight of what has been an impressive march by his Roc Nation agency as it penetrates the football world.
As strange as it sounds, some of the world’s finest footballers, including Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr, are now under the management of an American sports agency.
Football is not the prime sporting discipline in the United States but the country’s entrepreneurs, like Jay-Z, are battling to have a share of the game’s multi-billion dollar cake. Jay-Z was at Wembley to support his client Vinicius Jr, who responded with yet another impressive performance, and a goal, on the night as Real Madrid won their 15th Champions League.
Real Madrid wonderkind, Endrick, who is arriving with a massive profile, is also on the books of Roc Nation.
Roc Nation launched their football division in 2019, with executive Michel Yormark moving to London for the role.
Vinicius Jr became their client last year following Roc Nation’s acquisition of Brazilian football agency, TFM Agency, in July 2023. Over 100 other players, including Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli, als joined Roc Nation. Kevin de Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku are also part of the Roc Nation stable.
Along with his staggering 24 Grammy wins, Jay-Z has carved out a career in sports over the last two decades.
The rapper owned a minority share of the Nets from 2004-13, when he sold his share in the franchise and started Roc Nation Sports. — Agencies.
