A newly exciting local feature film – a Trap of Trade, is set to go to cinema as it will be screened on 31 August at Ster-Kinekor in Bulawayo.
The film was done by Zizo motion – a youth led media organisation that focuses on creating content based on developmental issues, led by cinematographer Praise Nkala.
The film was funded by Plan International Zimbabwe and it was made under the Safe and Inclusive Cities project.
The concerns of the film were crafted after youths came together to shed light on the harsh realities of unprotected sex, abortion, teenage pregnancy, child marriages and gender-based violence.
The story-line follows a 15-year-old girl named Sarah, whose life takes a tragic turn when she becomes pregnant after a brief encounter with JB, a man with political ambitions.

Praise Nkala said as a filmmaker, he was driven by a passion to tell stories that shed light on the most pressing issues of our time.
He said that A Trap of Trade was born out of a deep concern for the welfare of young girls and women who are vulnerable to exploitation, manipulation and abuse.
“The film’s narrative was inspired by real-life stories of teenage pregnancy, child marriage and gender-based violence that have shocked and outraged him.
“A Trap of Trade is more than just a film it’s a call to action. It’s a reminder that we must work together to break the silence surrounding these issues and demand justice for those who have been victimised.
“By sharing this story, we hope to inspire empathy, understanding and a sense of responsibility towards creating a more just and equitable world for all.
“Safe and Inclusive Cities project in this film aimed at promoting youth participation in advocacy and making sure that our communities are safe, including economic empowerment,” said Nkala.
