A newly created channel from Bulawayo called Zazise, has come to rescue young and talented local creatives as it has created a platform to allow the budding gems to showcase their different talents.

Zazise which is loosely translated to make yourself known or introduce yourself, also maintains that even icons from the past and present are not easily forgotten, as it also has programs to re-visit yesteryear creatives’ works.

The channel is broken down into four categories.

Zazise Wide documents stories of music icons from Bulawayo.

Zazise 5ive features a five-minute compilation of music news.

Zazise Verse of The Month, is a compilation of the top ten Hip Hop verses of the month.

Zazise De-ciphered is designed to break down artistes’ content from music lyrics to videos.

Makudzei Mlambo who is one of the co-founders and producers of the channel said they created the platform to give local talent a space to tell their stories and share their music with the rest of the world.

He said that they were motivated to start the channel because they felt that there was a creative gap in the local media space in documenting talent from marginalised groups.

He also said they wanted to create a platform which will celebrate arts from undocumented areas .
So far, they have worked with artistes including Kayflow, Synik and Yadis among others.

“I am hoping that we elevate talent, we want the artistes we cover to be exposed to the larger audience in Zimbabwe and it has never been about us but rather about putting people on the map” he said.

Apart from working with budding artistes, the channel through Zazise Wide segment – also celebrates icons in the music industry and their content has since featured Insingizi, The Cool Crooners, ILanda and Lovemore Majaivana.

“Through the channel we hope to ensure that music icons whose music is a part of the culture of Bulawayo will not be easily forgotten”

“Only a few youths can still remember the time of music icons like Jazz legends The Cool Crooners whose music lit up Bulawayo in the early 2000 and artistes like Lovemore Majaivana whose songs were and are still significant in our communities to date.

“By reviving music and content done by the legends, we want to ensure that these amazing artistes are not forgotten and will always be remembered, to ensure that their legacy and influence on national arts is not forgotten” said Mlambo.
