A HARARE man has been accused of attacking his wife with a catapult each time they have an argument.
Albertina Mapfumo approached the civil court seeking a protection order against her husband, Goodfree Magombo, accusing him of physical, verbal and emotional abuse.
However, magistrate Rutendo Machingura dismissed the application for lack of evidence.
Albertian had accused Goodfree of also attacking her with a shovel.
“He is always violent towards me.
“He abuses me verbally, physically and emotionally in front of our children and my parents. “The abuse started three years ago, but I thought he was going to change.
“At one point, he threatened to kill me and struck me on the leg with a brick and I got injured,” she said.
Added Albertian: “He is also in a habit of attacking me using a catapult each time we have an argument.
“I reported him to the police and he was arrested, but he paid a fine and continued abusing me. I have sustained a lot of injuries from his abuse.”
In response, Goodfree said: “I didn’t use a shovel, but I pushed her and she fell on the shovel.
“I agree that I assaulted her with a belt because she was cheating on me with my friend, called Charly Mera. I found used condoms under the bed yet my wife had told me that she had gone to Chisipite. I investigated and found out she was indeed having an affair with this individual.”
