A DISTRESSED Bulawayo woman has approached the courts seeking protection from her ex-husband claiming she no longer loves him because of the serious abuse and harassment he subjected her to during the subsistence of their customary marriage.
Ms Sithembekile Ndlovu appeared before magistrate Tinashe Tashaya seeking protection from Raymond Dimairo.
She appealed to the court to stop her ex-husband from visiting her at her residence and workplace at Lupane State University offices situated at CBZ Building, corner Fife Street and 10th Avenue.
a�?The respondent is my former husband. We were in an unregistered customary union from the year 2000 to March 2018 when I finally expressed my intention of having lost all love and affection due to the serious abuse and harassment I was being subjected to on a daily basis.
a�?I am making an application for a protection order because of the serious physical, verbal and emotional abuse I have been subjected to by the respondent (Dimairo) over some period of time.
a�?The abuse by the respondent has been so unbearable and frequent that it occurs on a daily basis. I have reported the respondent to the police about his physical and emotional abuse towards me but it has not stopped.
a�?I have indicated to the respondent that he should stop causing me emotional stress and I recently moved out and I intend to permanently separate from him. Respondent continues to visit me at my residence and workplace threatening and harassing me in front of my workmates,a�? said Ndlovu.
She said she was now living in fear because of the physical and emotional abuse that her ex-husband had subjected her to.
In response, a seemingly remorseful Dimairo didna��t dispute his ex-lovera��s accusations.
a�?I am very sorry for all the forms of abuse that I had subjected my wife to and I have no problem with her request that I should not visit her residence and workplace,a�? said Dimairo before he asked for forgiveness from the court.
In his ruling the magistrate ordered Dimairo not to verbally, physically and emotionally abuse his ex-wife and also not to go to her residence and workplace. . . .
