Accident kills 2

Traffic police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Luckmore Chakanza yesterday said the accident involved three vehicles and the deceased were in the Toyota Prado.
“It occurred around 19.30hr. There was a tractor which had broken down and people were pushing it. The Toyota Prado was heading towards Harare and was in the same lane the tractor was.

“The Toyota Prado tried to overtake the tractor but unfortunately there was a haulage truck that was coming from the opposite direction. The drivers lost control of their vehicles and this resulted in a head-on collision between the haulage truck and the Toyota Prado,” he said.
Asst Insp Chakanza said the deceased were taken to Chivhu Hospital mortuary.

“We suspect it was a case of speeding and an overtaking error. In light of that, we urge motorists to be always alert especially at night. They should also have a proper look of the road ahead before overtaking.
“Motorists should also be patient and travel within the required speed limits on the highways,” he said.
