Control Freak by Lisa Harris, has been withdrawn at the declaration stage, leaving the field wide open for the 1 600m Guineas Trial coming as race seven.
The super filly is still unbeaten and could easily have been the hot favourite but punters now have a chance to assess potential candidates for the Phumelela Guineas Trial – the first leg of the Triple Crown on February 26.
The equine athlete to win the Guineas Trial tomorrow, in the absence of Control Freak, must then be rated as one of the major contenders for this race where they will undoubtedly take on the unbeaten filly.
The talented and highly-rated Madigan (Quinton Riddle) from the Kirk Swanson yard is having his first run as a three-year-old and is placed number one on the race card.
Madigan goes around the bend for the first time and though that can be a worry, his class should be good enough to win this race.
Should Madigan show inexperience around the bend, stable companion Matlock River (Francois Herholdt) will be there to pounce.
Matlock River (3) ran a cracking second behind the unbeaten Woodford Express in his last start and if he reproduces that run, he will pose a big threat to Madigan.
Leading trainer Harris sends out three runners in Windmill Hill (2) with jockey Gavin Lerena, Janey (6) (Juan Paul Van Der Merwe) and Dalliance (7) (Dereck David).
On current form Windmill Hill at number two looks the best of her trio after having run second to Control Freak over the same distance at the Guineas Trial.
Originally from Johannesburg, he won his maiden race at Borrowdale Park convincingly and has backed that win up with two good seconds.
With nine races on the card, the Place Accumulator starts in race three and the Pick 6 in race four.
The Hachiman Sprint over 1110m has seven runners accepting to go to the starting stalls.
In this feature race, trainer Kirk Swanson has a strong hand as he saddles in four horses.
