Actress and ZBC news anchor, Nicole Jamu, has encouraged women to realise their power and purpose and use it to build society in a positive way.
“I urge women to look into themselves, unravel that inner power and use it to improve their work delivery.
“As women, we have a mandate in society, we have a role to play in making society a better place and we do that by giving our all.
“Just one act of kindness could change somebody’s life forever,” she said.
She said she learnt about giving back to society using her God given talent.
“I learnt about giving back to the community during my tenure as an on-campus brand ambassador for the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe.
“I was privileged to be part of a student team that was responsible for organising activations, gathering information for students willing to take road tests and facilitating oral lessons for acquisition of provisional drivers’ licences and organising physical tests, making sure the turnout was good and the pass rate for tests remained high.
“I felt this helped reduce the risk of accidents by equipping students with knowledge on the subject,” said Nicole.
Her transition from radio to television started off with her acting role.
“I was into acting from 2017 to 2019. I did theatre at Charles Austin Theatre in Masvingo where I had the opportunity to feature in Tsitsi Dangarembgwa’s film titled ‘A father’s lie’ that premiered in 2017.
“I have also been on radio for almost five years now. I started at YaFM in Zvishavane in 2018, where I volunteered for eight months.
“Then I went to ZBC Power FM in 2020 where I was on the mid-morning show. I then moved to the graveyard shift and made a comeback to morning radio in 2022 with the popular Business Daily segment.”
She also celebrated her first anniversary on ZBC’s Good Morning Zimbabwe early this month.
She aspires to become an international media personality and create opportunities for women in business and business reporting, and to develop talent through a talent management agency to nurture young talent as a way of improving the lives of others.
Nicole described her journey as challenging and educational.
“My journey has been more of a rollercoaster and surreal, very challenging, but I love every part of it. I have learnt a lot and continue to learn more,” she said.
