Admiral MUSKWE’S DREAM DEBUT

Bruce Chikuni

FLEETWOOD forward, Admiral Muskwe, says his debut goal, in his first game, would have felt better had his new team secured maximum points on Saturday.

Instead, they battled their way to a 1-1 draw against Wycombe Wanderers in an English League One match.

Wycombe took the lead in the 39th minute through Anis Mehmeti.

Muskwe levelled matters in the 67th minute to salvage a point for the Cod Army.

Wycombe were reduced to 10 men in the 10th minute after forward James McClearlys’ dismissal.

The stalemate means the Cod Army remain nine points off the pace after seven fixtures.

The Warriors’ forward is on loan from Luton Town.

Despite his debut goal, Muskwe acknowledged that a full set of points could have made his day.

“It was great to get my first goal for the club, but it’s bittersweet because we wanted the three points,” said Muskwe.

“With them going down to 10 men, there was a huge opportunity for us to get all three points.

“For me, it’s two points dropped.

“On the goal, when you see the ball bouncing around as a striker, you think about how you can affect the play and I was just in the right place at the right time, which is what strikers like to do and with so many players in the box, I just needed to get some height on my shot and thankfully it went in.”

He said once they were done with the blending period, positive results would be guaranteed.

“I think when any new signing comes in, there is a period of adjustment for people to understand your game, your movements and how you play.

“I’m sure the more, as a group, we spend with each other at the training ground and off the pitch, that understanding will develop.

“In the second half, we created a few opportunities, we just didn’t have that cutting edge with the final product, it just wasn’t there,” he said.

Muskwe also indicated that his understanding with the club’s coach, Scott Brown, has made life enjoyable at his new side.
