APOSTOLIC Faith Mission (AFM) last Saturday donated goods worth hundreds of dollars to Chipinge Town Council as the church celebrate100 years of existence in Zimbabwe.
Part of the goods donated includes an assortment of brooms and litter bins.
The church also embarked on a clean-up campaign where various church members across the district took part in cleaning the major streets of Chipinge town.
Speaking on behalf of AFM president, Rev Madziyire, Reverend Maxwell Chizumba, said AFM as part of the community would like to establish partnership with the local authority in keeping the town clean.
“As AFM, a church operating in Zimbabwe, we are happy to announce that we have donated brooms and litter bins to Chipinge Town Council as the church marks 100 years in this country. We want to partner the local authority in cleaning up the town as part of our social responsibility role.
“As a church, it is our duty to educate the community that cleanliness is nearer to Godliness and for people to know that they should live in a clean environment,” he said
Speaking at the same event, Chipinge District Administrator, Mr Edgars Seenza, appreciated AFM for the commitment in assisting the local authority with important tools that keep the environment clean.
Mr Seenza encouraged residents to adopt a culture of throwing litter in bins.
“As Government, we would like to thank AFM for their unwavering support in ensuring the development of our town.
“I know this habit of throwing litter everywhere will end if we keep on talking about it every day because people will come to understand the importance of using dustbins that are installed in every street,” said Mr Seenza.
