THE just-ended Africa CEO Forum Annual Summit, which was held in Kigali, Rwanda, was a resounding success, as it resulted in transformative deals, bold carbon-neutral pledges and continent-wide initiatives that will reshape Africa’s economic future, academic and entrepreneur Professor Kudakwashe Taruberekera has said.
The summit, which ran from Thursday to Friday, was a gathering of policymakers, business and other stakeholders.
The event, held in partnership with the United Nations Global Compact, focused on climate action, sustainable investment and green innovation.
“I was honoured to be a part of this movement, representing Craft Properties Holdings and raising the flag of my country Zimbabwe for the UN Global Compact’s mission to weave ethical business practices into the fabric of African enterprise and encouraging international investors to come and do business in Zimbabwe,” he said.
Prof Taruberekera said Zimbabwe, which abounds with opportunities in sectors such as mining, energy, tourism, agriculture, property development and education, was an attractive investment destination.
High-profile leaders at the event included Presidents Paul Kagame (Rwanda), Bola Tinubu (Nigeria), Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema (Gabon), Cyril Ramaphosa (South Africa), Mohamed Ould Ghazouani (Mauritania), as well as the Prime Ministers from Côte d’Ivoire (Robert Beugre Mambe) and Mozambique (Maria Benvinda Levi).
“The platform also offered insights into Africa’s green potential and sustainable growth, the opportunity to network with global leaders and innovators, collaborative discussions on climate action and investment, exposure to transformative deals and continent-wide initiatives, and enhanced credibility and partnerships,” he added.
“The summit, a resounding success, saw transformative deals, bold carbon-neutral pledges and continent-wide initiatives that will reshape Africa’s economic future. I contributed to pivotal discussions on leveraging Africa’s green potential, emphasising private sector leadership in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
“I was thrilled to meet and discuss with Counsellor Mr Stephen Chiname of the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe in Rwanda. We had a productive conversation, and I assured him we were ready to explore business opportunities in Rwanda. We are keen to collaborate with Rwandan partners to develop innovative, climate-resilient projects that drive economic growth and improve lives. The relationship between Rwanda and Zimbabwe is one of mutual respect and admiration.”
The next step, Prof Taruberekera said, involves finalising partnerships with Rwandan stakeholders and exploring potential projects.
“I am optimistic about the future of Rwanda-Zimbabwe business relations and look forward to contributing to Kigali’s growth story.”
