The history of African liberation is incomplete without Zimbabwe, which played a crucial role in the continent’s fight for independence, East African Community (EAC) Executive Secretary Her Excellency Veronica Nduva has said.
Speaking after touring the Museum of African Liberation at Liberation City, Ms Nduva emphasised the need for Africa’s history to be accurately recorded.
“We just concluded a very good ministerial meeting between EAC and SADC on the situation in the DRC,” she said.
“But we took a day to explore the hospitality of this historic country.
“You know, when you talk about liberation in Africa, you cannot have that conversation without mentioning Zimbabwe.
“Therefore, today, we are happy to visit a truly amazing project on liberation and African history.”
She added: “It feels like coming back home, looking at how our various countries are represented here through the different flags we have seen in the museum project.
“It’s really interesting, and we believe this is a great step.”
The Museum of African Liberation is being developed on a 103-hectare site known as Liberation City, with construction already underway.
