Agatha Murudzwa has story to tell

IN a sensational return, gospel diva Agatha Murudzwa, who met her Mutare fans at Pastor Tinashe Murigo’s album launch concert last Friday at Pick and Save, has got a story to tell to the world. Murudzwa, who is now Mai Mufundisi after she married Methodist Revival Church pastor Gwinyai Ndembera, relocated to Harare two years ago and started a new life away from Dangamvura high-density suburb where she grew up.
A lot of people, particularly her fans, are conversant with her music, but a few know about her personal life, experiences, hurdles, trials and tribulations.

She will reveal all of it in her upcoming potentially explosive album titled Based on A True Story due to be released early next month.
The album contains eight tracks such as Ziva Nguva, Rock of Ages, Anofamba Nesu, Makanaka Mwari and Matidaira.

“Each song tells a story of my real life. We are working on that album and we should be done by early next month. I will launch the album in Mutare and Harare. I feel great to perform in Mutare again. It is always nice to be home,” said the shrewd wordsmith.

She refused to divulge more information on musicians who will feature on the project.
Although Murudzwa moved to the capital city and concentrated more on being a wife, mother and Mai Mufundisi, she still has the agility, confidence and booming voice when on stage.

She was the first musician to show up on stage and belted songs that made her a household name in the gospel fraternity which include Makatendeka, Press On and Semafashamo.

She is still an entertainer par excellence who, on stage, always finds time to preach and gets her fans into the spiritual realm.
The album launch was well organised but poorly attended.

Pastor Tinashe and Hick Gwarimba showcased some unique and well-choreographed acts.
Sadly, gospel muso Blessing Shumba and Trymore Bande were nowhere near the radar because of other commitments and it heavily affected the attendance.

Pastor Tinashe described the launch as successful and thanked gospel music lovers from across Mutare and beyond for coming.
