Ailing Tsandukwa off to UK

The no-nonsence Tsandukwa, who was in a wheel chair was seen off at the Harare International Airport on Wednesday and visibly writhing in pain.
“I got injured at my farm while I was riding my motorbike,” Tsandukwa said.

Despite the group having three managers including Jethro Machanja and Gift, Macheso’s young brother, Tsandukwa – who is known in music circles simply as “Yellow” – insisted on travelling to the UK.
Often when Macheso travels to the UK he usually takes with him a smaller group minus one or two dancers. But instead of dropping “Yellow”, who is not a performing artiste and perhaps give a chance to first timers within the group he allowed the ailing manager to accompany him.

Maybe, there is more to it than meets the eye, after all “Yellow” and Macheso have come a long way. He has been there when Macheso needed him most and it would be unfair for the “Madhawu” singer to just brush off “Yellow” like that.

The Easter gig would be Macheso’s first trip to the UK since he became Red Cross Zimbabwe humanitarian ambassador. Suluman Chimbetu and some officials from the Red Cross Zimbabwe Society bade farewell to Macheso and his group at the airport.
