Afro-fusion sensation Alexio Kawara and the Shades of Black make their long awaited date in Mutare tomorrow after five years at Vida da Pas (heart of the Christmas Pass).
According to the show’s co-ordinator and venue owner, Obey Hove, the summer gig was long overdue.
He said the gig was set to be a major highlight that is expected to bring life to the scenic city.

“We are excited about Alexio’s performance on Saturday (tomorrow) since fans had been starved of his music for years.
“We are looking forward to having a worthwhile experience as we last had him here during his early urban grooves days,” said Hove.
The Shades of Black band leader was ecstatic about his Eastern Highlands rendezvous.

“The Mutare show is going to be a special one for me because it is my first time to perform with my live band.
“I have matured a great deal from the days of using back tracks and that is something to look forward to,” he said.
With five albums to his name, it is clear that with each year, he is evolving into a finer version of himself.

His current album, “Tose”, might easily pass as one of his greatest hits but knowing Alexio, it is clear he has not reached his peak.
At present, he commands a strong following of fans from all ages and creed, judging by his Thursday shows also known as “Kuchina”.
In an interview, Alexio once mentioned that his fans had become more like family with the Zimbabwe German Society as their meeting point.

The shows are also a stage where the renowned artiste exposes budding talent in the local music sector.
