this while delivering a lecture on his country’s domestic and foreign policies to officers attending the Joint Staff and Command Course (Number 25) at the Zimbabwe Staff College yesterday.
“The pillar of our foreign policy is built on the fundamental principle that all states are equal on sovereignty and there are no small states or big states when you are in an international community.
“We also do not accept interference in the internal affairs of other countries in the same way we do not accept interference in our internal affairs,” he said.
Ambassador Soulem said as a member of the Arab League they were against involvement by some Arab nations and the West in Syria’s conflict that has seen some nations openly supporting rebels battling to topple the Syrian government since March last year. He said like Zimbabwe, they also did not recognise Libya’s National
Transitional Council that toppled and murdered former leader Muammar Gaddafi with the assistance of Nato.
Ambassador Soulem said Algeria had assisted a number of African countries during their liberation struggles after it attained independence in 1962.
