SUNGURA ace, Alick Macheso and Orchestra Mberikwazvo will tonight (Friday) spice up their act at The Platinum, formerly Pick and Save, by performing songs from his yet-to-be christened forthcoming album due to be released early this year, the musician has revealed.
Macheso on his previous performances has been belting out yesteryear oldies from his rich discography such as Mundikumbuke, Shedia, Zvakanaka Zvakadaro, Sarah, Madhuwe, Tafadzwa as well songs from his last album, Tsoka Dzerwendo, popularly among them Gungwa, Kurarama Inyasha and Mude-mude.
“This weekend’s show will be different in many ways. We always strive to polish up our performances by introducing new and improved acts. We will play some of the songs to be contained on the album which is due to be released soon. We want our fans to enjoy the show. It will be a memorable act. Our fans have also fallen in love with our new dance, Muzerere.
“Another new dance we cannot reveal now will also be unleashed during the night,” said Alick, speaking through his manager, Lucky.
Macheso and his entourage left fans clamouring for more when they performed at the same venue in December last year. Macheso shocked many when he left the stage around 5 am, recording a non-stop six-hour performance.
The return of prodigal sons, Noel Nyazanda, Obert Gomba and Jonasi Kasamba who are well loved by legion of sungura fans have added depth to the star-studied band. The show starts at 8pm.Several upcoming sungura artistes will warm up the stage for the sungura maestro who is expected to jump on stage around 10 pm.
“We promise to bring an array of artistes every fortnight as an appreciation to our beloved patrons who always make Pick and Save a entertainment hub of choice,” said the show organiser.
