All roads lead to Chimanimani

and unity.
Befittingly, the three-day arts jamboree will also be held during the Heroes holiday to commemorate both the country’s fallen and living heroes who sacrificed their lives to liberate Zimbabwe.

Like in previous years, this year’s event has a variety of artistes from the disciplines of music, theatre, poetry, dance, films and gymnastics, among others.

Billed to lead the stellar line-up will be Senior Lecturer Madzibaba Nicholas Zakaria who, with his Khiama Boys outfit, is expected to ignite a revelling mood among music fans with his polished act.

The left-handed guitarist is famous for his infectious gems like “Mazano”, “Ida Anokuda” and his reggae tracks, which are a favourite with many.
His talented dancers commonly referred to as the Stork Birds are expected to thrill with their moves that normally leave revellers mesmerised.
It remains to be seen whether Dino Mudondo — who is one of the artistes to headline at the festival — will perform with friend and fellow artiste Willom Tight after the duo recently resumed holding joint shows.

Dino is gifted with a suave way of singing and people love his songs like “Makoikoi”, “Bhazi” and “Jatropha”.
Another top musician, Leonard Zhakata, is billed to perform at the event and Chimanimani folk will have an opportunity to sample songs taken off his latest album “Gotwe — Last Born” that is doing well, apart from his other hit songs in the form of “Mugove”, “Maruva Enyika” and “Pakuyambuka”.

Mbira queen Chiwoniso Maraire, Alexio Kawara, Juicer Mupostori and Chimanimani-based groups Ngangu and Radiation Band, will also be part of the line-up.
The performances will be held at the main stage on the Village Green and the Blue Moon stage.

Chimanimani Arts Festival comes hard on the heels of some of Zimbabwe’s biggest events like the Winter Jazz Festival and the Zimbabwe International Book Fair that attracted huge crowds.

One notable thing about the festival is that it accords people a chance to mix, mingle and enjoy themselves free of charge, probably one of the reasons why there is always a huge turnout.

Chimanimani Arts Festival is now in its 12th edition.
