All set for Bulawayo Miss Plus You beauty pageant

All is set for the Miss Plus You Bulawayo Beauty Pageant taking place tomorrow at the Nesbitt Castle.

The event seeks to celebrate “intelligent, beautiful, classy, bold plus size ladies”.

For a while, plus-sized ladies have been body-shamed and called using derogatory names. Due to this, some have lost confidence in themselves hence such an event will revive their spirits and boost their confidence.

Drawn from the ages of 18 and above, plus-size ladies will walk down the ramp and the top three will share US$1 000 and hampers.

Speaking to Chronicle Showbiz, one of the organisers, Nomagugu Ndlovu gave a clear picture of their readiness to host the event.

“We’re ready to host the event and also to kick out the body shaming and name-calling that plus-size ladies are subjected to. This kind of behaviour should be a thing of the past,” said Ndlovu.

Mandy Nash and DJ Mzo will mesmerise the audience during the event as the ladies catwalk down the ramp. – @eMKlass_49
