All set for Chief Chirumhanzu installation

The stage has been set for the installation ceremony of the 18th Chief Chirumhanzu, scheduled to take place on Friday morning at Gonawapotera Secondary School in Chaka, Chirumhanzu District.

Chirumhanzu District Development Coordinator Mr Jorum Chimedza said the new Chief Chirumhanzu was born Abraham Marufu Nyamandi in 1960.
“The new Chief Chirumhanzu will be installed today (Friday) at a function to be held in Chaka Village in Chirumhanzu District. The new chief takes over from Mr Fidelis Mudzengi, who has been the acting chief for years,” he said.

In 1977, while visiting his rural home in Chirumhanzu, he was recruited by ZANLA liberation fighters and he worked as a mujiba operating in the Chirumhanzu area until independence in 1980.

In 1983, he trained as a builder and went on to become a renowned building contractor working on various construction projects in Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare, Chivhu, Gweru to mention but a few.

In 2022 he retired to his rural home where he stays to this day.
