THE ZIFA Eastern Region Division One League will resume this weekend.

ZIFA Eastern Region vice-chairman, Simba Wisdom, said: “We are resuming this weekend. We have 16 teams inclusive of Surrey who had requested to start in January after the approval of their budget.”

Wisdom said the region’s flagship league is finalising a sponsorship deal.

“We have one partner who indicated his willingness to partner us, but at the moment we can’t divulge anything as the talks are progressing well,” he said.

The former Buffaloes player added that preparations for the league matches have been going on well.

“The teams have been preparing well in this tough environment. Our plea as a region is that referees must understand that sponsors are hard to come by in these trying time. They should handle the matches well so that we give sponsors value for their money as well as bring more partners on board,” he said.
