admintournament, which is sponsored to the tune of US$25 000, will tee off tomorrow morning for the professionals who will play 36 holes.
The Pro-Am will be played on Saturday with a field of 120 players expected.
A total of 43 professional golfers will battle it out in a tournament that will have the top 20 getting into the money zone.
The mobile phone service provider has this year pledged their support for the elite sport and is expected to be on board for several years to come.
The Econet Joshua Nkomo Memorial Classic is being held in memory of the late Vice-President Joshua Nkomo.
Zambezi Tour has released a programme for the tournament that will run for three days.
“The prize fund of $25 000, will be shared by the top 20 players. There will be an official practice round and players must book times directly with Royal Harare.
“The tournament will tee off (Thursday) with first round – two tee starting times at 07:00hrs. On Friday the second round will begin at the same time.
“On Saturday there will be a Pro-Am which will be the third round – one tee starts at 07:00hrs, amateurs and professionals will have their prize presentation and cocktail at 18:00hrs,” the Zambezi Tour said.
The tournament will be a test for Ignatius Mketekete who has taken the local circuit by storm. The golfer has managed to win most of the tournaments played so far this season and dominated the Lowveld Pro-Am and NetOne Classic.
Mketekete is playing good golf but he faces a big challenge from Tongoona Charamba.
Charamba might have been pushed into the shade but he could rise on the big occasion.
Robson Saurombe, Laiford Yadyo, Roger Jack, Julius Kamalizeni, Shane Pringle and Phillip Tshuma are all in contention.
Foreign golfers from Zambia and South Africa are also expected to take part in the tournament.
