IT’S all systems go for the annual Manicaland Show of Arts (Manisa) exhibition to be held today (Friday) at National Gallery of Zimbabwe.
The potentially intriguing event will see tens of visual artistes showcasing various works of art such as paintings, sculpture, crafts, textiles, mixed media and photography.
The launch coincides with the gallery’s 15th anniversary since its inception in 1999.
The two-day event will run under the theme: “Our surroundings — Zvakatikomberedza”.
The official opening will be conducted by Culture Fund as well as SIDA.
The exhibition is aimed at promoting Manicaland resident visual artistes.
Manisa 2014 edition chairperson Elizabeth Muusha said all was in place to host the biggest annual activity at the gallery which will see artists and artistes from various districts such as Buhera, Nyanga, Mutasa, Mutare, Chipinge, Makoni and Chimanimani taking part.
The official opening starts tonight at 5pm while the main event will be held tomorrow (Saturday) starting at 9am.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sport, Arts and Culture Dr Thokozile Chitepo is expected to grace the event.
