All set for Nama

THE National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) are set for Saturday.

NAMA events director, Napoleon Nyanhi, said all roads lead to the Harare International Conference Centre for the event.

“It’s such an honour to be part of such a unique and exquisite event like this.

“I believe this platform allows creatives to engage with business leaders and vice-versa.

“The stage is set, cameras ready, Feli Nandi and Mwenje Mathole can’t wait to set the pre-show on fire.

“This event has the potential to build long lasting synergies beneficial for all, which may be difficult when artists walk into boardrooms.”

He added:

“Artists with work created and released between December 2019 to November 2021 can submit their work for consideration.

“Art is  difficult to understand and big companies hesitate to work with it as most of it is controversial.

“However, we are grateful to have people who still believe in us and support our cause,” Nyanhi said.

National Arts Council of Zimbabwe deputy director, Josia Kusena, said the aim of this is to promote creativity and diversification of the arts industry.

“This makes artists more creative and productive and opens them for national and international recognition.

“NAMA is supported by the fiscus and all submissions were done before November and August.

“We have something you have never expected and experienced before,” said Kusena.

This year’s event is sponsored by Old Mutual and CBZ Bank.

Winners will be selected from eight categories, and 59 artists are expected to perform.
