All set for : Theatre Day

CHIPAWO children will be gathered at Rooftop Promotions’ Theatre in the Park this weekend as they join the rest of the World in commemorating the International Theatre Day for Children and young people. This day is internationally commemorated on the 20th of March in more than 80 countries which are members of the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People (ASSITEJ). As CHIPAWO continues to strive in elevating the position of children’s theatre, it celebrates the day with the theme, Take a Child to a Theatre.

Today will see the children from various ECD CHIPAWO centres showcasing their theatric skills through plays, dances (traditional and modern and created) and also poetry and storytelling. Tomorrow the same presentations will be done by children from primary and secondary schools affiliated to CHIPAWO.

On this day CHIPAWO shows children’s love for theatre as well as how children in the organisation are acquiring different theatre skills. Having children engage in theatre is a good way of enabling the children to communicate, as well as exchange views and experiences.

In an interview during the rehearsals, some of the participants said were excited about the day as it only gives them a chance to showcase their talent but also express their feelings through play. – Cool Lifestyle Writer.
