IT’S finally all systems go for the start of the Glow Petroleum Rainbow Amateur Netball League (RANL) season over the weekend at four venues around the country.
The league failed to kick-off last weekend after the governing body, Zimbabwe Netball Association (Zina), indicated that the Sports and Recreation Commission had not sanctioned the process.
Twelve teams will be split into four groups of three, with matches being played in Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare and Kwekwe.
“Our league games are commencing on Saturday the 23rd of October 2021. They are going to be played in four venues,” said RANL secretary-general Moses Gukurume.
According to RANL fixtures secretary Precious Mudenge, Dry Run pre-season tournament champions ZRP Mambas, Rio Zimbabwe and ZRP Support Unit will play their league games at the Morris Depot courts in Harare.
New look Glow Petroleum, who are coached by former Zimbabwe senior netball team captain Perpetual Siyachitema, are based in Kwekwe with Hi-fliers and Golden Valley.
Khami Queens, Hwange based Lusumbami and Pistons, will use the Khami Prisons’ courts, while Mutare will host Dry Run pre-season tournament losing finalists Correctional Queens, Tenux and Ruwa.
“Each team will play two games and there will be no return matches due to limited time,” said Mudenge.

Redcliff: Glow Petroleum, Hi-fliers, Golden Valley.
Khami: Khami Queens, Lusumbami, Pistons
Mutare: Correctional Queens, Tenux and Ruwa.
