Alpha Omega Dairy is expected to start processing ice creams and chocolates next week as the company increases its range of products, an official has said.

Alpha Omega Dairy assistant general manager Mr Joseph Zirebwa disclosed this to scientists and engineers who attended the just-ended 3rd Korea-Africa Food and Agriculture Co-operation Initiative during a tour of the First Family’s Gushungo Dairy Farm. The experts came from countries such as Kenya, Senegal, Morocco, Korea, Malawi, the DRC, and Sudan among other member states.

Mr Zirebwa said the new products would be launched after being introduced on the market. “The chocolate and ice cream manufacturing plants have already been installed. We have done much of the installation. Within a week, we should have the ice cream on the market so that when we launch, people will be familiar with the product,” he said.

Mr Zirebwa said Gushungo Dairy Farm had 2 000 dairy cattle and had capacity to produce 80 000 litres of milk per day.

On average, a cow produces 20 to 22 litres of milk daily.

He said the company was ISO certified and was guaranteed of producing standard products under hygienic conditions.

Gushungo Dairy Farm also produces maize, soyabeans, sugarbeans and citrus. Maize and soyabeans are used to manufacture feeds for the dairy cows.
