after failing to meet “required” standards.
Amakhosi director, Cont Mhlanga said they had to shelve the performance because of financial problems that affected its production and could not meet its scheduled date of show.
Voice Izwi was set for 29 and 30 June.
The vocal (imbube) performance features Sam Banda as director with Simunye and Sunduza performing.
“The show was simply not ready to go at Elite 400.
“It could not meet the standards set for performances being shown at the venue,” said Mhlanga.
“The production was affected by under-funding at production stage and we are going to give them time to refine it, and also assist them to mobilise resources to complete the show.”

He said it has since been rescheduled for the summer season.
Mhlanga added that they were also planning to shelve the classic play, Nansi Le Ndoda, in favour of a new production by Rooftop Promotions.
Nansi Le Ndoda had been billed to run at the end of July.
Mhlanga said they were now focusing on productions from outside Bulawayo that will see Kapfupi and another prominent actor from Harare featuring at Elite 400.
“The spotlight is now on the summer season as we are wrapping up the winter schedule. We are working on the programming for the summer shows and I am glad that there are a lot of people who have made enquiries on what will be on show come summer time,” he said.
Mhlanga said while response to the winter programming was fair, it however, did not surpass their expectations.
“I think the response could have been better considering the content and venue.
“But being a new concept I think we need to give people time to get used to the idea.
“I am glad however, that we managed to register 480 members in our database whom we hope are going to become regulars at Elite 400,” he added.
Mhlanga said theatre audiences were different from that of a musical gig.
“Dealing with audience for a theatrical production requires patience.”
Some of the performances that have been showcased so far include the Clive Show, featuring comedian Clive Chigubhu, Breast Calabash, featuring Intombi Zomqangala, Sginci Night that featured Jeys Marabini, Bob Nyabinde and Thembi Ngwabi and the Styx Mhlanga directed play, Mother Courage.
