Villagers in Hwedza North got a lifeline on Saturday when zanu-pf youth secretary for the district, Cde Tino Machakaire, donated an ambulance. However, they had to first beat Hwedza South in a soccer match in which the ambulance was the grand prize.

“We donated this ambulance to the district, but through a soccer match. We then said the winners will take it and Hwedza North won the match,” Cde Machakaire said.“We only had one ambulance in the district, but now we have two. People were dying, people were travelling long distances, but now we want our people to live a better life,” he said. He hailed President Mngangagwa for being a visionary leader who inspires young Zimbabweans.

“I am inspired by President Mngangwa. He is a visionary leader who inspires many of us. With his leadership, Hwedza will be a developed district,” he said.

Speaking after the handover of the ambulance, Chief Svosve hailed Cde Machakaire for his commitment in developing the constituency.

“Machakaire is our son who hails from this constituency and he has done a lot for us. One thing that we need to understand is he has fostered development in this district and we are happy,” he said.

He said the young businessman has also assisted him to launch “Zunde Ramambo”, an initiative that will see several artistes from the district benefiting.
