Amuli of the Wamatuka used the Esigodini show as a platform to prove that he is now a force to reckon with in the Zimbabwean music industry.
The much publicised show started at 8pm and it was curtain-raised by a Harare-based rhumba group called BG.
The up-and-coming rhumba group managed to win the hearts of many as they exhibited unfamiliar rhumba dances which included the Chameleon dance.
Fans could not hide their excitement as they whistled and started asking the group to repeat their dances which were totally new in the region.
The main act, Amuli, came on stage at 1am and at first fans protested as they wanted BG to continue up to around 2am.
When Amuli got on stage he managed to win his fans back as he introduced himself by singing his famous song Wamatuka.
The song was a hit in 2009 on television and radio as it had the best video that was featuring the best dancing queens, Mambokadzi.
Music lovers could not resist the tempting lyrics of the song as they joined Amuli in singing the chorus of the song. Soon after Amuli had introduced the song his two dancing queens quickly jumped on stage clad in short yellow skirts and immediately started shaking what their mothers gave them.
Male revellers had their eyes glued on the two ladies who exhibited suggestive moves that they could not resist to watch.
Amuli quickly introduced his second song Pandinapo and fans could be heard whistling and dancing as they enjoyed the bass guitar that was fused into the song.
Samuel Ndlovu, a fan, told Chronicle news crew that Amuli was slowly becoming a force to reckon with as he had matured like wine.
“Amuli has improved a lot in terms of his music and how he conducts himself on stage.
“This is a plus to our musical industry and this is what we want to see when we come to live shows,” he said.
Amuli later started taking musical requests from his fans and some fans had an opportunity to share the same stage with his dancing queens.
Some of the songs that were requested by the fans included Muhope ndinewe, Nhangemutange, Nyasha, Donhodzo and Maivevana.
Amuli went on to sample a few songs from his forthcoming album as he wanted his fans to know that better songs were being brewed and the album would be ready by the end of the year.
