An international online career guidance platform, Craydel Study Abroad, meant for students wanting to pursue higher education – from graduation to post-graduation to PhD – at any point in their student or professional career has been launched in the country.

The tech startup has 380 direct partnerships with universities so far and seeks to democratise access to tertiary education, in turn, addressing the low gross enrolment rate, of about 9 percent in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).

This includes working professionals who have not been to college before, for want of access to capital and resources.

Craydel is building the tech infrastructure to empower African learners to search, match and apply to their best-fit higher education institutions.

In an interview, Craydel’s co-founder and director Mr Shayne Aman Premji said, “Craydel is Africa’s fastest growing and most innovative study abroad company.

“We are so excited to be here in Harare this week, officially launching Craydel in Zimbabwe. This is our seventh office on the African continent, after our initial launches in Kenya, Nigeria and Uganda.

“We started Craydel several years ago because we believe in the power of young people on the continent as our future leaders and to change the future of our nation, to change the future of our world.

“So we built Craydel as a solution that is specifically for students, for their parents and our high school partners.”

He said they work with students from multiple countries across the African continent to help them define their best-fit career paths and apply to the universities and colleges that can help them get there.

“We are the official partners of more than 550 universities in 45 countries around the world,” Mr Premji said.
