A 29-year-old woman from Silobela fatally struck her husband with a pot and a burning log, following a domestic dispute over the family’s welfare.
Midlands Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident that occurred at Makande Village under Chief Malisa in Silobela.
“On November 27 around 7 pm, Brighton Dube (29) arrived home from the tuck shops where he was drinking beer,” he said.
“He found his wife Liona Mbulawa (24), in the kitchen preparing supper with their three children aged between 9 months and 9 years respectively.”
Insp Mahoko said a misunderstanding allegedly arose between the two as Mbulawa accused her husband of not taking care of the family.
“The dispute escalated into a fight and Mbulawa took a pot from the fireplace and struck Dube once on the forehead causing him to fall on the floor. She pulled a burning wood from the fire and hit him all over the body,” he said.
Insp Mahoko said the couple’s neighbour Halane Dube (79) intervened and verbally warned them to desist from quarreling.
After the caution, he said, Dube took Mbulawa and her children to her homestead so that they could spend the night.
“The following morning, Mbulawa went back home and found her husband’s lifeless body lying in the kitchen,” said Insp Mahoko.
He said a report was made to the police leading to Mbulawa’s arrest.
