SOCCER: And now the coaches speak . . .

David Mandigora, Dynamos

“This bright start to the season that we have had should not fool us, this is a marathon that is just beginning and we do not know what will happen along the way.

“We do not look at statistics much, we look at our next game and every game in the top flight is a difficult one.

“We are just taking each game as it comes and we respect Flame Lily a lot because they are one of the teams in the Premiership.

“We have a slight problem though, Ocean (Mushure) and Qadr (Amini) are out of this game through injuries, Blessing (Moyo) and Carlos Rusere are away on national duty.

“Yes, it is a blow, but we have a big squad, enough cover for the missing players.”

Nesbert Saruchera, Flame Lily

“Everyone at Flame Lily, including the team’s bosses, is excited to play Dynamos. This is a historic fixture for us because this is the first time the team is playing against DeMbare in a top flight match.

“It is not going to be easy, I tell you. Dynamos have started well and will be difficult to break. But let me remind you that as a coach I have also beaten Dynamos countless times and I can do it again on Sunday (today).”

Mark Harrison, Caps United

“Games are not getting any easier, I tell you. We played FC Platinum and Dynamos consecutively and now we have to face the form team.

“They (Triangle) are scoring a lot of goals, but we have to come up with a plan to stop them.

“We will make some changes to the squad that faced Dynamos last week, obviously Ronald (Pfumbidzai) is not available and we have to make tactical adjustments.”

Kelvin Kaindu, Triangle

“It is still too early to really say we are where we want to be, we are not getting carried away by the fine start. Our aim remains to avoid the issue of relegation that stalked the team in the previous two seasons.

John Nyikadzino, Chapungu

“It is too too early for me to press the panic button. We have just played three games and we have 27 left and as a seasoned coach I know this kind of start happens in football.

“After all, of the three games we have played two were away and we lost one to defending champions Dynamos.

“If you look back to 2008 you will find out that Norman Mapeza lost four or five opening games, but he went on to win the league title with Monomotapa.

“We are just looking at the Highlanders game and will try to achieve a positive result from that.”

Bongani Mafu, Highlanders

“It is still early to really judge the performance of the team. I want my team to improve but I would rather have a great finish instead (of a good start), having something tangible at the end.”

Lloyd Mutasa, Whawha

“We are all coming from Division One and this game against Tsholotsho FC could be a tricky one, but who said there are easy games in the Premier League?

“If you look at the log table it is not looking that good, so we have to put our act together and start picking up maximum points and hopefully it will be against Tsholotsho.

Lizwe Sweswe, Tsholotsho FC

“The Premiership experience has been good so far for the players, they have learnt a lot and we will improve in the coming games.

“We are coming from Division One and we did not sign any player with Premiership experience, so I can say we have done our best so far.

“I do not know much about Whawha, but our policy is to take each game as a cup final, if we can get a point at Ascot it will be fine with me.”

Joseph Takaringofa, Buffaloes

“Everyone knows our financial situation here and it is difficult to motivate a player in such a scenario, but we have to soldier on. Sometimes you have to play for pride, you can’t spend the whole week preparing to lose a game.

“It is a very long trip to Hwange, yes, but we have made enough preparations and I am happy I have no injury worries. We are only missing Liberty Chakoroma who is with the Young Warriors in Cameroon.”
