Moonlight Funeral Assurance has distanced itself from a man who claims to be a mortician at the company and has been posting images of deceased people on his Facebook page.
Tinashe Tanaka Mugwara is seen taking selfies with images of dead people who are being dressed in a morgue.
It could, however, not be established if the name on the Facebook page was the real name of the supposed mortician.
In one of the pictures, Mugwara is seen taking a selfie while two of his workmates are washing a dead body in the background.
In other pictures, he is seen opening coffins.
All the pictures are captioned “‘Ibasa tingagodi’ (that’s the nature of the job; what can we do?).”
Netizens described his actions as unprofessional tantamount to desecrating the dead.
Moonlight Funeral Assurance company has since distanced itself from Mugwara.
In statement, Moonlight said:
“We would like to inform the public that we do not have any one Tinashe Tanaka Mugwara under the employ of Moonlight. We are not aware of this individual’s whereabouts nor the funeral parlour where this picture was taken.
“Our undertakers and morticians do not enter mortuaries with cameras and cell phones as a matter of policy,” read part of the issued statement.”
