Another boost for Shabanie

donation was witnessed by hundreds of fans who thronged Nyaradzai Hall, just a stone’s throw from Maglas, in the oldest and biggest suburb of this town.
Fans, who witnessed the event, were treated to free beer and drinks.
It was a good Easter holiday for the team which collected maximum points away in Bulawayo on Good Friday when they hammered newcomers Quelaton 3-0 to go top of the table for the first time in 11 years.
The team received two sets of branded kits, football boots, tackies, tracksuits, travelling bags, 60 training shirts, 60 training balls and 15 match balls, cones, training bibs, cooler boxes and four nets.
Shabanie players, who used to sleep in the bus for their away matches in the capital last season, will now sleep at the Cresta Lodge during their matches in Harare and the Wise Owl in Mutare with all expenses being paid for by the company.
“I am  still working on how much to give them as a top-up to their winning bonuses but all I want is for them to win seven games in the first half of the season and collect another 25 points in the second half of the season,” said Nancy Dube, the managing director of Vedette Trading.
“If they continue winning I can raise the stakes.
“I was impressed with the last two games and I respect the coach who is result-oriented. If I get good results from them, more things will come their         way.
“I come from the Midlands and my business interests are in Zvishavane. I am supported in this town (Zvishavane) and it is proper for me to give back to the community.
“I saw the team being formed in 1998, gaining promotion in 2001 and all I want is for them to stay in the Premiership as they are the most supported team in the town.”
Shabanie patron, Greg Mataka, was a happy man.
“I am overwhelmed by the donation and I am just appealing to all the business people and individuals in the town to come to the rescue of the team and also to support Vedette,” said Mataka.
“I am also happy that Shabanie managed to go to Mauritius in 2002 after a good performance in their maiden year, playing in the Africa Cup Winners’ Cup and only on Saturday, our neighbours (FC Platinum) were in the desert (Sudan) taking part in the Champions League.
“It means we have two great teams in Zvishavane.”
A new Shabanie executive has also been announced.
Webster Chitono retained the chairmanship and Fidelis Chimedza will be the vice-chairman.
The other executive members are Gift Rupiya (treasurer), Elias Marufu (secretary) with Simba Mutasa, Piri Mukono, Henry “Dzama” Moyo, Joseph Zimuto and Mutsva Chitoro being committee members.
The club now also have a team administrator, Chengetai Phiri.
One of the richest people in the mining town, Samuel Gondwe, known as Sam Dread by the Zvishavane community, will be welfare manager for the Chinda Boys.
Last year, Gondwe paid the players’ bonuses and also used his personal vehicles to ferry the players to the match venues following a breakdown of the team bus.
The team also appointed committee members from each town where there is a Premiership team who will take care of the team’s logistics and also identify talent.
They will be represented by  Dumisani Mauto and Pathius Shoko (Harare), Shadreck Chinhema (Bulawayo), Innocent Hungwe (Gweru), Palph Maridze (Hwange), Noah Kwangwari (Mutare) and Ackim Khan in Masvingo.
Two weeks ago a local businessman donated two kits, tackies and football boots to the team.
