Another Chitungwiza official arrested

A senior official close to the resuscitation team confirmed the developments.
The latest official to be arrested is Ms Phoebe Pfende, a revenue officer at the Zengeza sub office.
Allegations are that Ms Pfende was under-receipting invoices and converting the difference to personal use.
She would allegedly skip writing copies after invoicing customers’ receipts.
Ms Pfende allegedly entered the reduced figure in ink on office copies.
The suspended officers are Mr Ebby Nyuke a housing officer and Mr Tavengwa Mapuranga who worked in the IT department.
The two allegedly created residential stand offer letters resulting in double allocations.
Two other officers IT manager Mr John Mapani, systems administrator Mr Lameck Mutswiri and chief internal auditor Mr Mudiwa have also been suspended.
They have been suspended for allegedly flouting tender regulations after purchasing IT equipment without following laid down procedures.
Councillors involved in illicit housing deals also face suspension and possible arrests. More arrests and suspensions of officials are expected as the resuscitation team restores order at the council.
The team has recommended arrest of the suspended officials who could soon be charged with corruption charges in court.
Town clerk Mr Godfrey Tanyanyiwa is already facing corruption charges involving close to US$700 000 while the director of housing and community services Ms Jemina Gumbo is on a US$500 bail on charges of irregular allocation of residential stands.
Chamber secretary Ms Omega Mugumbate and health services director Dr Mike Simoyi have resigned.
