Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector James Sabau yesterday said no arrests had been made and investigations were underway.
“No arrests have since been made but we are working on some information that would help us to close in on the suspects,” he said.
He urged members of the public who might have information that will assist police to contact Avondale Police Station or any nearest police station.
Police say they suspect the act was motivated by ritual practices.
The girl was found crying at a house a kilometre away from her parents’ house and was taken home.
According to the girl’s father, he retired to bed with his wife and the victim at around 9pm last Thursday.
The couple was sleeping on the bed while the girl was on a sofa in the same room and at around 4am, the father woke up and discovered their daughter was missing.
Two cellphones and a satchel with Form Three textbooks were also stolen.
