SENSEI Wilfred ‘Zim Ninja’ Mashaya was honoured at the sixth World Humanitarian Festival of Martial Arts Awards Ceremony held in a cruise ship in Montenegro.
The festival’s theme was “Stop Suicide” in commemoration of the World Suicide Prevention Day.
Sensei Mashaya, who is the first certified ninja in Zimbabwe, received an award for Master of the Year 2022 and the Martial Arts Police Instructor of the Year.
Sensei Mashaya was also handed a Shihan Certificate in self-defence by the World Federation of Martial Arts.
He keeps setting trends in the martial arts world through his hard work and commitment.
Sensei Mashaya has been teaching self-defence to people living with disabilities, women and children.
He is currently undergoing training with the Ninjutsu Grand Master Dai Shihan Predrag Lazarevic, among other Grand Masters, in Budva, Montenegro.
The course is focusing on self-defence, Ninjutsu and weaponry.
Speaking from Montenegro, Sensei Mashaya said he was grateful to the event organiser, Dai Shihan Lazarevic.
“I am grateful to the event organiser and military police instructor, Dai Shihan Predrag Lazarevic, for the support he gives me and for having faith in me.
“This has enabled me to raise my country’s flag.
“Martial arts unite people from all walks of life as it knows no race, colour or religion.
“It’s a way of life that champions not only self-defence and fitness, but also for people to live in harmony with the universe,” he said.
Sensei Mashaya pleaded with the corporate world to support martial arts in the country.
