ANT-SY TO MOVE

BAYERN MUNICH are confident they can beat Premier League competition to land Anthony Gordon.

The German champions are front of the queue to land the Newcastle and England winger, who is keen on a move away from Tyneside this summer.

However, representatives from Gordon’s agency also met with Barcelona sporting director, Deco in Spain last week.

The Spanish outfit are said to be interested, though the meeting dsicussed a number of names as well as Gordon.

Arsenal and Liverpool have both considered moves for Gordon in the past, with the Gunners having explored a potential deal this summer.

The Magpies have valued their No10 at £75million, having signed him from Everton in 2023 for a cut-price £45m.

While Bayern would look to lower the asking price, the Vincent Kompany’s side remain serious contenders to complete a deal.

No formal offer has been made from Bayern to Gordon so far, though they are preparing to present a five-year deal to the winger if a deal can be agreed with Newcastle.

Gordon would face fierce competition for a place in the Bayern side, with their front three of Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Diaz the most formidable forward line in Europe this season.

The trio have 101 goals between them in all competitions this season, each of them individually eclipsing Gordon’s tally of 17 goals and five assists under Eddie Howe so far this term.

Barcelona remain in talks with Manchester United over potentially reducing the fee to sign Marcus Rashford on a permanent basis following his loan this season.

It would be hard to see a world where both Rashford and Gordon would end up at the La Liga leaders.

The Magpies paid £45m for Gordon when they prised the 25-year-old away from Merseyside back in 2023.

But even Bayern Munich are only willing to pay £55m for the winger.

Given Newcastle have to pay a sell-on fee of 15 percent to Everton, they are keen to maximise Gordon’s worth.

Given wingers like Noni Madueke and even the Newcastle-signed Anthony Elanga have gone for fees over £50m, one has to think the Toon has a good chance to getting north of those numbers.

While Gordon has not set the Premier League alight this season in a disappointing campaign for Eddie Howe‘s men, he has thrived in the Champions League and boasts some decent numbers.

He has 17 goals and five assists this season with 10 of those strikes coming in European competition – Sun.
