Plumtree-based Maskandi duo Aphiwe and Sobancane who rose to fame courtesy of their smash hit Inhliziyo Yami, are set to re-announce themselves in the showbiz with a second album titled Mlamu Wami set to be dropped on 30 September on all online music stores.

The much-anticipated project is a follow-up on their first album titled Imibuzo, which was released last year in April. Mlamu Wami album features nine tracks including the title song, Imidlinzo, Ubombonga Esaphila, Ubulima Baso, Shwele, Uthando, Satane, 2024 and Ubaculela Kamnandi, which features award-winning creatives Msiz’Kay, Thandy Dhlana and MJ Sings.

Msiz’Kay

As a way of connecting with their fans and fostering new relations with new potential followers, the duo will host two shows, which will act as the album launch. On 2 November, they will perform at Chicken King in Plumtree.

They will proceed and launch the project in Johannesburg, South Africa on 7 December, at a venue yet to be announced. Plans to launch the album in Bulawayo during the festive season are also on the cards.

Handy Sibanda, who is the duo’s manager said the album was produced over seven months, an assurance that the project was cooked well and ready to be served to the masses.

“We are happy that the album, which was demanded by Aphiwe and Sobancane fans is finally set to be dropped and as of 30 September, fans can access it for sale on all music stores.

“The album was produced by Nash from Nashville Studios in Bulawayo with other two tracks done in Mzansi.

MJ Sings

“Early this year, we dropped Ubaculela Kamnandi, which featured some of Zimbabwe’s great creatives Msiz’Kay, Thandy Dhlana as well as MJ Sings and we loved the reception of the song, which gave us the strength to finally drop this album.

“We started recording this album in February. We mainly recorded in April and August because we wanted to accommodate Aphiwe who is a candidate set to seat for his November final examinations.

“We made sure that this project doesn’t interfere with his school time that’s why we recorded it during holidays. As he is set for his examinations, the young man is fully prepared and ready to nail them and we are giving him all the support he needs – not only achieving his music dream but also balancing his life with education,” said Sibanda.
