ARMED robbers attacked an N Richards shop in Graniteside, Harare, on Thursday and made off with more than US$40,000 in cash.

They attacked a 53-year-old Fawcett Security guard, undressed him and tied together with a second victim, a truck driver, who had parked his vehicle near the premises.

The armed robbers then forced entry into the offices and escaped with R17,950, ZIG 94,000 and US$38,316 cash.

The attackers used a grinder to break the locks and blasted their way to access the company’s cash safe.

“They used a grinder to break the locks. We heard about four blast sounds which we suspected were from dynamites on the cash safe.

“The robbers moved in and out of the shop several times before they left the scene.

“They could have stolen several goods apart from cash,” one of those, who were tied up during the robbery, said.

Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi could not be reached for comment.

However, H-Metro was reliably informed that the case was reported at Braeside Police Station under RRB 6861404.
