A WOMAN who was attacked by some daring armed robbers, who were masquerading as policemen and took her US$800 at Harare Central Police Station, identified them after their pictures were published in H-Metro.

The picture, which was published in this newspaper last month, was about other multiple charges of armed robbery, which they are facing.

The armed robbers had pounced on her by masquerading as police officers and robbed her of some whiskey bottles, wines and US$800 in cash.

The robbers were so daring that they even conducted the cash transaction at Harare Central Police Station.

Peace Chimbi informed detectives investigating her case after she saw pictures of her attackers which were published in this newspaper.

Tatenda Memory Chigodora, Nigel Regis Rongai, Owen Pfani and Praise Ngonidzashe Mundoringisa appeared before Harare magistrate Stanford Mambanje yesterday.

They were all remanded in custody.

The court heard that on September 3 last year, the four conspired to rob Chimbi and called her on her NetOne number pretending to be customers who intended to buy alcohol from her.

They met her at Caledon Shopping Centre in Waterfalls and they introduced themselves as police officers.

They told her that she was under arrest for smuggling alcohol.

They drove her vehicle and ordered her to direct them to her house.

Along the way, one of them produced an unidentified pistol and ordered her to comply with their instructions.

At Chimbi’s house, they took one box of Jameson whiskey beer, one box of Amarula, three cases of Hunters Dry, two 5-litre Namaqua wine, and demanded cash for her release.

Chimbi called her husband, who brought US$800, and they met outside Harare Central Police Station where it was paid and they let her go.

Chimbi identified her attackers after an article of their arrest and subsequent court appearance and pictures were published and informed the police.
