Armed robbers pounce at Forestry Commission

ARMED robbers pounced at the Forestry Commission in Highlands and went away with substantive cash.

Two private security guards were left tied when six armed robbers wearing balaclavas and armed with one pistol and iron bars ransacked the sales office and blast opened a safe and stole US$2 140.

They proceeded to Instinct Risk Advisory offices and used iron bars to break the toilet window burglar bars and gained entry. The robbers ransacked two offices and unmounted the safe from the accounts office and took it outside.

They forced it open using an unknown object and stole yet to be known amount of cash.

Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case saying a reaction team from GTS security attended the scene after the alarm had been triggered.

“Police are investigating an armed robbery case in Highlands.

“At the scene, recovered were yellow pliers, green detonator cords and dynamite paste tubes. “Total value stolen is to be ascertained,” said Insp Chakanza.
