DHAURA Bar, located at White House Shopping Centre, lost an undisclosed amount of money to armed robbers on Monday.
The robbers ordered a guard to show them the company’s safe.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, urged people to bank their money at financial institutions.
“Police are investigating an armed robbery case that took place at a bar at White House Shopping Centre,” said Insp Chakanza.
“Circumstances were that on March 27 at around 2.30am, the security guard was approached by two men armed with an unknown rifle and a pistol.
“The accused persons ordered the guard to direct them to where the cash box was.
“They tied the guard’s hands from behind.
“The one who was armed with a rifle remained outside with the guard while the other went into the shop.
“They used dynamites to blow up the cash box and stole cash yet to be verified,” said Insp Chakanza.
He said there was another robbery in which Forget Jowa, 39, of Granary, lost US$1 600 at Snake Park Grocery shop after robbers used an unknown object to cut the padlocks to gain entry.
