NYASHA Chakanyuka the Zifa Northern Region Division One ZRP Morris player was laid to rest at COTTCO cemetery in Bindura yesterday. Chakanyuka who collapsed during training had a huge send off from the football family and his employers ZRP who turned out in numbers to bid him fair well. Among those in attendance were ZRP FC players and ZRP Morris family and their coaches including Jonh “Toto” ncube and Arthur “Tustsi” Tutani.
Zifa Northern Region chairman Willard Manyengavana said they are saddened by the death of one of their players. “As the Northern Region family we feel hard done by the sudden departure of Chakanyuka who passed away while training.
“The team’s match has been moved and we will observe a minute of silence in honour of Chakanyuka during all our matches this weekend. “We will also encourage teams to wear black armbands on all the players this weekend,” said Manyengavana.
Chakanyuka had a sudden death during Wednesday’s training session.
