The show will run for 13 episodes and will be shot in the city with the finals set for December.
In an interview yesterday, the head of the project, Thulani “Dj Face” Nyashanu, said the talent search would be moulded around the Big Brother Africa and Idols concepts.
He said they had pitched the idea to ZBCtv to have the programme on the small screen.
“We are looking forward to exposing Bulawayo talent to its fullest as we can initiate a show from the city. We are waiting for ZBCtv to approve the programme and then we will start filming. At the moment we have a trailer for what we want to do.
“The show will incorporate the Idols and Big Brother Africa set up where contestants will go into a house and work on their songs,” said Face.
He said the 1 000 contestants would be trimmed down to 50, then to a final 10 who would battle it out for the grand prize.
“The final 10 will work with a producer on their tracks that will be voted for by the public. During the show the contestants will be given an envelope that will contain an impromptu song that they will have to do and the general public will vote for their favourite singer,” said Face.
He said the talent search contest was open to all who think they can perform any genre of music.
“We want all genres such as kwaito, hip-hop and house among others. It is open to all people who think they can sing or perform. It is more about identifying talent for the show,” said Face.
He said producers were looking for two presenters to host the show and those interested should come to the studio.
“We want two people who have hype and are eye candy for the show. Those interested can come for details of auditions to Face the Music Studios formerly Moonlight Studios. One will be presenting the show and the other will be following the contestants as they move around the day,” said Face.
He said Andy Cutta, Nash and Michael Katandika would be working on the show.
“I will be working on the show with Andy Cutta, Nash and Michael Katandika, they will be the producers.
We want to have a guest artiste who will appear in one of the episodes and work with one of the contestants on a song,” said Face.
